According to a survey done by the National Retail Federation, total spending for Halloween is expected to reach $9 billion this year. Splurges for the perfect costume, favorite candy, and spooky decorations are not uncommon for Americans.
Of that $9 billion, $3.2 billion will be spent on costumes. Surprisingly, 20% of Halloween celebrants plan on dressing their pet in a costume this year, compared to 16% last year. Prosper Insights Executive Vice President of Strategy Phil Rist said, “Out of the 31.3 million Americans planning to dress their pets in costumes, millennials (25-34) are most likely to dress up their pets, the highest we have seen in the history of our surveys.”
