According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), now for 27 years straight, the Labrador Retriever holds its title as the most popular purebred dog in the United States. However, this playful and family oriented breed has some new competition. In 2017, the French Bulldog began to capture the hearts of Americans, raising their popularity significantly.
In just the last 20 years, the alert and adaptable Frenchie has risen from 76th place to 4th place in popularity. This move has knocked Beagles out of the top 5 for the first time since 1988.
